My 50th blog post, bragging about my 5 month old baby. What a milestone!

Norah’s 21 weeks old, and her official 5 month birthday is today! She shares the birthday with two of her great-grandmas, celebrating such a special day on Earth and in Heaven.

There is so much that I want to share about Norah’s life. She is an amazing ball of wonderfulness, I can’t believe that I’ve been able to spend the last 5 months of her life just staring at her and playing with her. Seriously lucky here, guys.

13.7 lbs (50th %ile), 24.75" long (75th %ile). Perfect in every way!

5 month old babies are awesome.

She can do all sorts of amazing things, like reach out for toys

A record of her very first grab!

and faces (so adorable)

This can get a little painful, with her little claws and sticky fingers!

She can roll (such a great parent moment!)

Her first roll! 16 weeks old. She is now much more accomplished at getting her hands out in front of her.

and scoot while on her back

(which we discovered when she scooted herself into the corner of the fridge. A not so great parent moment).

Norah is a champion sleeper and eater, and to me it feels like she sleeps through the night. She’s slept for the occasional 8 hour stretch since 8 weeks, but for the most part she’ll sleep for about 4-6 hours before waking up to eat in the middle of the night. The amazing part, and why say she sleeps through the night, is that she doesn’t even really wake up to eat. She makes a few little noises, nurses quietly, and then drifts off to sleep again. It’s fabulous.

Who wouldn't love waking up to this face??

She still sleeps with us, although we did have a successful couple hours sleeping in the crib a while ago!

When she's not teething and feeling extra clingy, she sleeps in her crib just fine!

I realize that there are tons of things in this crib that shouldn’t be there–I swear this was a supervised nap and she normally sleeps on just a sheet 😛

The reason we don’t push the crib though, is that she’s teething. It’s super cute to see her holding little teething rings and nomming on anything she can find, but it also means that she’s a muuuch lighter sleeper than normal and sleeps best when she can sense and feel us nearby. Sleeping with us means that everybody gets better sleep, so who am I to question it??

The best part, though, of having a 5 month old, is the smiles. She’s been smiling at us on purpose since 6 weeks, but gosh those smiles still melt my heart. Nothing beats a baby smiling at you, trusting you with her whole world.

I’ve got you, little one 🙂
